Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI) film is a transparent, high performance stretch/shrink/plain film developed for corrosion protection of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. This film is used by exporters of auto and engineering products to ensure odd-shaped or large metal parts are secure and rust free during shipment.
VCI film by Penguin Plastics is nitrite and amine free and features active VCI corrosion protection on both sides. VCI film resists moisture, prevents rust formation and provides superior mechanical properties to snug fit large palletized loads. The film is transparent for easy inspection and identification of parts.
How VCI works
VCI film continually releases small amounts of active substances into the atmosphere inside the packaging, meaning that metal surfaces that are not directly in contact with the film also benefit from protection. The distance between the film and the surrounding metal surfaces will depend on the packaging volume and the amount of time needed for a protective atmosphere to build up-10 cm can be used as a rule of thumb. Depending on the packaging volume, it can take up to 20 hours for a sufficient protective atmosphere to develop.
